Digital SLR cameras will soon be the replacement for 35mm SLR cameras both through price and quality.
 

Digital SLR cameras are new and exciting to use. The electronics in a digital SLR camera today is exploding with new technology and you the consumer will be the winner in the end. Whether it is a Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Olympus or Konica Minolta; digital SLR’s are now established and are here to stay.
 

Digital cameras have moved into the SLR market with a vengeance. Although digital SLR’s were originally slow out of the gate, they are making up for lost time.
 

In the advanced amateur line, Nikon has the D100, D70, D70s, D2Hs,D2X and now the D50. All these Nikon SLR’s use the Compact flash media and have sensors from 4 to 12 mega pixels and range in price from US$895 to $4999.
 

Canon has the EOS-1Ds Mark II, EOS 1Ds, EOS 1D Mark II, EOS 20D, EOS Digital Rebel XT and EOS Digital Rebel. All the Canon digital SLR’s use Compact flash and range from 6.3 to 16.6 mega pixels. Their prices begin at US$595 to $7999.
 

Pentax have two digital SLR models. Both the Ist DS and Ist D have 6.1 mega pixels and range from US$713 to $1499. The Ist D accepts the Compact flash media while the Ist DS accepts the Secure Digital media. Pentax recently announced the Ist DL.
 

Olympus E-1 and E-300 digital SLR models accept Compact flash media and are 5 and 8 mega pixels respectively. They range from US$719 to $1299.
 

The Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D has 6 mega pixels, accepts the Compact flash media and ranges from US$1150 to 1599. Although this is Konica Minolta’s first digital still SLR, its claim to fame is its internal image stabilizer making all the Konica Minolta AF lenses image stabilized. Also, Konica Minolta has announced the Maxxum 5D.
