home -  electronics made easy :: discount Nikon digital cameras

Often the word discount Nikon digital cameras is equated with lower prices, demo models and sometimes it was also tied to lower quality.

Discount Nikon digital cameras: There was a time when discount and Nikon would not be found in the same sentence. However, Nikon, like all the other digital still camera manufactures, can put out a quality digital still camera while remaining discount competitive.

Today, discount can be compared to inexpensive and entry level digital still cameras. In relation to other digital still cameras, I define discount as a high end camera leaden with as many features as possible at the most reasonable price.

When it comes to digital cameras that are considered to be discount cameras, there is no difference from any other camera especially when if comes to comparing picture quality.

Things one needs to look for, when searching for a discount camera, are features such as mega pixels, optical zoom strength, LCD size, movie mode and physical size. Even though you may want a discounted camera, you can still look for as many features as will fit in your budget.

Mega pixels: no matter what camera you refer to, are equal when recording information. Therefore a 5 mega pixel is still 5 million pixels of recording information which are the tiny dots that make up a photo.

Optical zoom: yes the cost of manufacturing an optical zoom lens is more expensive as it increases in size however, camera manufacturers today are very competitive and lower end lens are available at reasonable prices while still offering a quality picture.

LCD: the screen size is proportionate to the price. Larger costs more, so if cost is an issue, as in discounted prices, than choose a smaller LCD.

Movie mode: Most digital cameras come with movie mode included. So it doesn’t matter which camera you choose, movie mode will always be there. Often on discounted cameras, it will not include sound.

Other factor’s which may influence a discount camera is the material used to make the housing. Lower cost is associated with a plastic body as opposed to light weight metal. In either case, your discount camera will still operate efficiently and effectively.

You will find a very price competitive 4 mega pixel, 3 times optical zoom, 1.8 inch LCD and movie mode readily available in a Nikon digital still camera which some may call ‘discount’.
