High Definition Television is here!

High definition television (HDTV) has finally come to the country. And it is about time. For years our TV electronics have had low quality signals sent within a system called NTSC. Now we have a new system called ATSC that provides high quality video and multi-channel audio to our homes.

HDTV can be available in many types of TVs

You can get HD on many different TVs;

• CRT TVs
• Rear projection CRT TVs
LCD TVs
• LCD Rear projection TVs
• LCD projectors
• DLP Rear projection TVs
• DLP projectors
Plasma TVs

How do I receive HD programming?

There are a few different ways you can receive high definition. You can get high definition broadcasts from HD satellite, HD cable, or local station HD transmitters. Of course, you will need a few more things.
No matter what source you decide to access, you will need an ATSC receiver either from the cable or satellite provider. Some HDTVs now come with a built-in ATSC tuner to allow the TV to access HD signals without a set top box.
