Laptops – Connecting to Networks from Remote Locations
Many purchasers of new or used laptops have desktops where their peripheral
devices are connected. When a notebook user is utilizing his or her notebook
computers, it can be a hassle to hook the devices into the mobile laptop to use.
Notebook computer electronics allow
us to leave the devices connected to a desktop computer and network the laptop.
Notebooks – Get on the Internet from Almost Anywhere
One way to network a desktop with laptop computers is through an Ethernet
crossed cable. Using the desktop as a hub, a notebook can be linked directly to
the desktop so the notebook can remotely use the devices. This creates a fast
and direct connection between the notebook and desktop but does reduce the
portability and mobility of a notebook. While a user can use their notebook
anywhere, the notebook has to be brought to the desktop to use the added
devices.
Another network connection between notebooks and
desktops can be established through a wireless router. This allows for a more
portable and mobile connection, as the notebook can use the desktop’s devices
from anywhere. The desktop can be linked either through an Ethernet cable or
through a wireless network device. The notebook then has its own wireless
network device linking it to the router. If mobility and portability are key
concerns, wireless connections are the best route.
While most users connect notebooks in one of the previous ways for
affordability, your peripheral devices can also have wireless technology to
connect to both your notebook and your desktop. If you are purchasing a cheap
laptop and intend to use it for wireless
connections, be sure to check out the capabilities of the notebook before
purchasing.
