Notebook Computer – Keep Your Network Safe

The security of a notebook computer has been addressed for a number of years through notebook connection passwords and encryption of notebook transmissions. With the portability of a laptop computer comes its increased usage as a mobile office, school, and personal equipment. Notebooks are being used to connect to networks in a variety of settings. This brings up the issue of security in the use of laptops.  These notebook security measures have become more robust over the years and provide an increasingly improving shield against security breaches in notebooks.

Laptops – Lower the Risks by Upping Security

Another advancement in laptop computers and electronics is the addition of security keys to notebooks. These notebook security keys are small portable devices about the size of the portable car devices that allow us to lock, unlock, and set the alarm on our cars from a distance. These mobile security devices provide a numerical code that is linked to the network connection of a laptop. The notebook security code is linked to the security key, and the computer user must type in the exact number the portable security key is displaying when they try to connect their computer to a network. The security of these devices is achieved by the fact that the computer code changes at regular intervals, some computers change as quickly as 30 seconds. This means that if someone learns or taps into your computer code, by the time they can use it the code has changed. Only the person holding the notebook security key knows the right code to put into the notebook computer at any given moment.

These different security advances insure that the mobile technology of notebook computers does not compromise the privacy of computer networks. While used laptops may have to be upgraded for these functions, the ability to maintain portability and mobility while keeping networks secure is well worth the investment.
