Plasma TV Reviews are not all made equal
Plasma TV reviews can be misleading if you don’t know from what angle they
are writing it. Most reviews of
electronics are written from a standpoint of trying to sell you something or
because of a vested interest of an advertiser. Only a handful is written from a
standpoint of an impartial reviewer.
The accuracy of the review is important
First the reviewer must understand how a
plasma TV creates a picture. The plasma television manufacturers have made
huge improvements in processing and manufacturing making this television one of
the best. The plasma technology differs from other televisions like LCD and CRT
televisions by combining all three colors within each pixel. A charge is sent by
electrodes between the glass panels to change the state of the plasma gas. The
red, green and blue phosphors glow, creates light on the TV screen.
Sometimes a plasma television is the
best technology for you and sometimes it isn’t. How bright is your room? If it
is very bright, with lots of direct sunlight, you may not want to buy a plasma.
Do you want to display your computer or Play Station? Although the plasma has
improved, you can experience burn-in and the speed this happens will depend on
whether the plasma manufacturer has some safeguards to reduce it. The
Panasonic plasma TV has a pixel
shift as a screen saver to help in this.
Most plasma TVs are either High Definition (HDTV) or Extended Definition (EDTV).
The ED models can accept a HD signal but either up-convert or down-convert to
around 500p.
