Satellite television is defining the TV market
Satellite television or cable TV, you ask? Satellite TV is changing the way
we watch TV, and the cable TV companies are scrambling to catch up. At one time,
if you wanted satellite TV, you needed a cement pad in your back yard and an
enormous satellite dish. That now has changed and all you need is a small pizza
sized dish to receive an improved digital television signal that will make your
electronics pop with amazing sound
and vision.
So why is Satellite TV Better?
It comes down to bandwidth. Cable TV is an older technology that struggles to
provide enough television channels with the quality that your expectations
require. Satellite gives you more stable video quality, clearer audio and far
more TV channels. While satellite sends you 100 % digital TV, the cable is
analog and requires you to own or rent a receiver to get a handful of digital
channels. All the rest of the TV channels are the same quality as you would have
without the cable box.
If you are in the United States, there are two main providers of satellite TV;
DirecTV and Dish Network. However in Canada, there is Bell ExpressVu (which uses
are variation of Dish Networks' Echostar equipment) and Starchoice. Neither
country’s systems are authorized to infringe upon the other countries satellite
TV turf though.
With the rollout of High Definition television (HDTV) electronic receivers and
Digital Video Recorders (DVR), satellite TV is flexible and works well with the
newest HD plasma, DLP and LCD projection
televisions.
