Sony Plasma TVs are losing money for the quality manufacturer. As Sony doesn’t have its own manufacturing plant for Plasma TVs, they have had to purchase them from such companies as Pioneer, LG, Fujitsu and Hitachi. Quite often, Sony purchases the parts and have the electronics shipped to them for assembly. According to Reuters, it is the LCD market that has made money for Sony.
 

The Grand Wega and LCD panels have been their bread and butter!

Both the LCD flat panel and the Grand Wega LCD rear projection TV are saving Sony. In the LCD market, they have entered a joint venture with Samsung to build panels. The success of the LCD projection TVs is where Sony took an early lead.
